LPG Boiler Servicing and Repairs

LPG  / Calor Gas boilers need regular servicing to ensure both safe and efficient performance. As LPG is particularly explosive it is important to ensure that there are no leaks in the system and nowhere for any leaked gas to pool, such as drainage gullies.

As with Natural Gas boilers, combustion checks should be carried out to ensure that the gas is being burnt efficiently, both saving you money and reducing the amount of Carbon Monoxide that is  produced – a result of incomplete combustion.

Some Carbon Monoxide will always be produced and generally this small amount is just expelled into the air outside via the flue, so it is important to keep the area around the flue terminal outside clear of vegetation otherwise exhaust gases can be sucked back into the boiler which can quickly result in the production of dangerous amounts of Carbon Monoxide.

Different gas boilers require different things to be checked.  Some require the function of the fan to be checked, others check the current of the spark to the ignition electrodes – basically, the manufacturer’s instructions should be available to the servicing engineer and these instructions should be followed.

A Carbon Monoxide detector inside the room where the boiler is situated should be considered essential.
